Workshop Focus: Understanding the Challenges Women Face in Science

Through this initiative, DGDB aims to strengthen understanding and inclusion in the scientific community and to encourage open dialogue on topics relevant to all Institute members. The goal is to highlight the challenges and barriers faced by women in science, share firsthand experiences and suggest practical steps the Institute can take.

The event is open to all Institute staff and students. External attendees are welcome with prior registration due to limited number of spots.

MODERATOR

Marija Đurić Science Journalist, Communications Department, Institute of Physics Belgrade

Marija Đurić works in science journalism and science communication, as well as in organizing science-popularization events. She writes about science for numerous domestic and international media outlets.

Studies the role of noncoding RNAs in the onset and progression of colorectal cancer and their potential as biomarkers for diagnosis and prediction of therapy response.

Dr. Tijana Milićević Senior Research Associate, Institute of Physics Belgrade

Investigates inorganic and organic substances in environmental and food samples, focusing on exposure assessment and human health risk.

Dr. Marija Mitrović Dankulov Principal Research Fellow, Head of the Center for the Study of Complex Systems and the Innovation Center, Institute of Physics Belgrade

Works in the physics of complex systems and network theory, with a focus on social systems.

Slađana Savić Jovanović Teaching Assistant and Equality Officer, Faculty of Chemistry, University of Belgrade

Develops advanced oxidation processes for removing pharmaceuticals and pesticides from wastewater and methods for chromatographic monitoring of small organic molecules.
