Upcoming seminar: Electron-plasmon Scattering in Doped Graphene

CSSPNM, within the HIP-2D-QM project, is pleased to announce a seminar entitled Electron-plasmon Scattering in Doped Graphene, to be delivered by Dr Josip Jakovac from the Institute of Physics, Zagreb, Croatia.
The seminar will take place on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, at 11:00, in the “Dragan Popović” Lecture Hall at the Institute of Physics Belgrade.
The seminar will focus on the interaction between electrons and plasmons in doped graphene and how these many-body effects influence the electronic properties of this important two-dimensional material. Combining advanced theoretical methods with experimental observations, the talk will provide insight into the microscopic processes governing charge-carrying excitations in graphene.
Abstract
Graphene exhibits remarkable electronic properties, with electron-plasmon interactions playing an important role in the behaviour of charge carriers. In this seminar, Dr Jakovac will present ab initio simulations of photoemission spectra in electrostatically and chemically doped graphene using a recently developed many-body RPA-G₀W₀ approach. The results provide new insight into the decay mechanisms of photo-excited holes, the formation of plasmon satellites and Dirac plasmarons, and their agreement with recent angle-resolved photoemission spectroscopy (ARPES) experiments. The simulations also reveal signatures of Fermi-liquid behaviour in highly doped graphene, offering a comprehensive theoretical description of electron-plasmon scattering in this important two-dimensional material.
