Today, Dr Darko Tanasković from the Institute of Physics Belgrade delivered a seminar as part of the Fall Advances Workshop 2026, organized within the framework of the HIP-2D-QM project.

The seminar, entitled “First-principles calculations of the electronic structure and spectra of strongly correlated materials: DFT + embedded DMFT approach,” focused on theoretical approaches to understanding the electronic properties of strongly correlated materials.

Dr Tanasković introduced the foundations of the Density Functional Theory (DFT) combined with Dynamical Mean-Field Theory (DMFT) approach, highlighting its applications in the study of complex quantum materials. Particular attention was given to iron-based superconductors and rare-earth nickelates, illustrating how advanced computational methods contribute to understanding their electronic structure and properties.

The seminar provided an opportunity for participants to explore theoretical methods used in contemporary condensed matter physics and their relevance to quantum materials research.
