Today, the Center for Solid State Physics and New Materials (CSSPNM), within the HIP-2D-QM project, hosted a seminar entitled "Electron-plasmon Scattering in Doped Graphene", delivered by Dr Josip Jakovac from the Institute of Physics, Zagreb, Croatia.

The seminar focused on the role of electron-plasmon interactions in doped graphene and the many-body effects that govern the behaviour of charge carriers in this remarkable two-dimensional material. Dr Jakovac presented recent ab initio simulations of photoemission spectra in electrostatically and chemically doped graphene using the RPA-G₀W₀ approach, providing new insights into the decay mechanisms of photo-excited holes, the formation of plasmon satellites and Dirac plasmarons, as well as their agreement with recent ARPES experiments.

The presentation also highlighted signatures of Fermi-liquid behaviour in highly doped graphene, demonstrating how advanced theoretical modelling can successfully describe complex electron-plasmon scattering processes and complement experimental observations.

The seminar brought together researchers, students and members of the wider scientific community, providing an excellent opportunity for discussion on recent advances in the theoretical description of graphene and other quantum materials.
